My Flowergirl

As you might have surmised from a couple other posts, this past weekend found our family in Nashville, TN for one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever been a part of.  And I have been part of a lot of really, truly beautiful weddings.

Laura was one of three little flowergirls in this wedding.  She was the youngest, but only by a few months.  The oldest is just four, and all the children always play so sweetly together.  The sight of the three girls in their matching dresses and cowgirl boots was, honestly, breathtaking...  I have been getting teary looking at the photos for the past few days.  And I am NOT a wedding cryer.

Internet is Forever

Excuse me while I step onto my soapbox for a moment.

Have you seen any of those ads on TV promoting safe internet use for kids?  Like this one:



Think before you post.  It's really good advice.  The internet is forever.  Pictures are forever.  It's a scary world we're living in.  I'm not one to shy away.

My stomach lurched.   My father-in-law posted on Facebook, announcing to the world at large the pregnancies of his DIL (me) and daughter.  I was not ready to have my pregnancy on Facebook.  I still had very close friends and family I needed to tell - and I did not want them finding out secondhand on Facebook of all places.

I was furious.  Thankfully, my FIL respectfully removed the post minutes after I asked him.  But lord almighty.  I just can't understand sharing someone else'e good news!  I know he's excited, but I'm only just 12 weeks.  My sister-in-law is so early, she hasn't even been to the doctor yet!  Leave that information off the interwebs!

Ok, I figured it was probably a kick in the pants for a mass email to those close friends and family.  I sent out a nice, private email with a picture of the happy big sister to be, which I planned post on FB under my own terms the next day.

This plan was great, with emails galore from loved ones, till 3pm.  A facebook post from a cousin congratulating me on the pregnancy.   But since nearly half a day had passed since the inital email, I decided to stop caring.  I posted the good news on Facebook.  It's official.  Facebook official.  I'm pregnant!

I figured since I was making a clean sweep of my life and home, I might as well make some Lenten resolutions over here on the blog too.  So I'm going to be more proactive.  I'm going to work harder.  I'm going to post better.

And I'm going to be even less cagey.  My name is Cait, and I just told one of my bestest friends about Le Blog.  Hi M-Pants!!  I have been feeling all restless in my soul, having such a big secret.  And on so many occasions recently, the truth has nearly come out.  And then, yesterday, talking about a potential baby #2...

M-Pants: Well, if Nate doesn't want to know when you start "trying," aren't you going to go nuts without someone to talk about it to?
Me: I...
       I have a secret blog.
M-Pants: WHAT?!  I NEED THE LINK NOW!

And so, dear friends, this blog of mine is a little less anonymous.  I don't want to go crazy or anything, but I am pretty excited to be a little less secretive!  So please, like me on Facebook!
